Caribou Holiday Card

Hello!

I am back again to share with you another card created with Southern Ridge Chipboard die cuts and pattern paper from the Graphic 45 collection. I loved the first card I created last month with this paper and wanted to send a few more cards out to loved ones for the Holiday Season.

My card base is made from Kraft cardstock. I added multiple layers with pattern paper and Java cardstock. I loved the Caribou from the Pattern paper and wanted to highlight it. I used the small frame from the Abstract Frame Set and heat embossed the frame with Copper Tinsel embossing powder.

I loved how the frame looked so I continued with the Copper Tinsel embossing powder. I choose a Mini Wood Pine Cone and a snowflake. I embossed both and let them cool. Added the snowflake to the center of the poinsettia and tucked the pine cone under the side of the flower.

Reindeer Card

Hello!

Thank you so much for joining me today! Winter has arrived where I live and the holiday season is upon us!

I have been playing in my studio with the wonderful detailed Snowflake #3 chipboard diecuts and the Wood Small Marked Reindeer. There are a variety of different snowflake designs on the website and the Reindeer come in a pack of 4!

I only used Distress Stain in Vintage Photo to the Wood Small Marked Reindeer so that the etched design was visible - so pretty! I let it dry before adding it to the center of my card for the focal point.

I used the Snowflake #3 like last week, added glitter with a Stardust pen and tucked them under the edge of the circle.

Vintage Christmas Card

Hello Crafters!

I'm here with you today, to share my first (of many to come!) Christmas Cards using Southern Ridge Chipboard and/or Wood die cuts.

I used Bazzill cardstock in Kraft for my card base. Cut a panel of Cajun cardstock, that I embossed with a poinsettia embossing folder. I corner rounded both the card base and embossed panel. Next, I used pieces from Graphic 45's 'Winter Wonderlands' pattern papers for my top layers. Fussy cutting out the stamp and the bird. Then adding dimension by using foam adhesive on the back of the stamp.

I added the wonderful Snowflake #3 to both sides of the card. Tucking them in, to create even more depth and dimension. I love the look of these superb die cuts on Vintage style cards so I only added some shimmer with a Stardust pen to the top. I repeated the same with the circle 25. Tied a piece of seam binding to a clip on the left corner and twine to the top of the circle 25.

You only Live Once Card

Hello!

Corina here, hosting the blog today, to share my You only Live Once Card. I love this sentiment and strive to live this way. I love creating projects with custom inked back grounds and adding Southern Ridge Chipboard elements always enhances my cards.

Above is a close up picture of the Heart o Graph Drop. When you purchase these Heart o Graph Drop, they come with 4 pieces. I used the 2 of them here, for the top and bottom of my sentiment. I painted both of the pieces black and applied glue to the back. I placed them on top of a piece of lace and allowed them to dry. I then cut around the perimeter.

I used black cardstock for my card base and matte. I created my back ground paper with Distress Ink and assorted stamps with Black Archival Ink. I used my sewing machine to stitch around the edges. and added two floral clusters with pearls, gems and lace.

Explore Card

Hello!

For today's post, I am sharing a layered card with 2 pieces of Southern Ridge Chipboard. For the Pattern paper and colour scheme, I went into my scrap bin. A few years back, I created a mini Album with this paper line and I found numerous left over pieces to use for this card.

For the 2 chipboard pieces, I covered both with Multi Media glue and sprinkled each with Micro Fine Glitter. Royal Red for the Explore Fun Word and Champagne for the Elegant Vintage Flourishes. I allowed it to dry fully before taping the excess off.

I used a Tag Dies and a set of multi-sized Rectangle Stitched Dies with my Big Shot to cut my paper layers for the card. I added some vintage ephemera to the tag and a piece of green seam binding to the tag.

Let's Hang Out Card by Corina Finley

Hello!

I am very excited to share my card with you this week. I loved creating my background - once again, I used a Stencil. I also used the lovely Starfish chipboard laser cuts.

I created my card base with coloured cardstock. On a piece of white cardstock, I applied texture paste through the Swiss Cheese Stencil. I allowed it to air dry. I then replaced the stencil and used Distress inks in three shades of blue to colour the bubbles. I then applied a light coat of multi media with a dry brush and sprinkled with clear glitter. This effect is hard to see in pictures but adds dimension in person.

For the starfish, I dipped each in white glue (that dries clear) face down and then sprinkled with Sahara micro glitter. I tapped the excess off and allowed to air dry. For my Shells & Sea Horses (Inkadinkado Stamp set), I stamped with Versamark and used Black Fine Embossing Powder. I then used Distress Ink and a waterpen to colour in and blend the colours.

Journey Card

Hello!

Summer has gone by very quickly is seems! I had the chance last week to spend a few hours in my Studio. I created a few cards that I will be sharing with you over the next month or so. Just like my last post on my blog, I decided to use Distress Ink Oxides and a Stencil for the back drop of my card.

To create the background, I second generation stamped using a large Prima Script background stamp with black archival ink directly over top of the Distress Oxide background.  I applied grey metallic paint over the Gear Stencil with a blending tool.  I used my heat tool to dry.

I painted the gears with the same grey metallic paint. I spritzed and inked some roses in a variety of colours and sizes. I set these aside to dry naturally.

With an extra piece of the inked background paper and decided on this large bold sentiment from a Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection Stamp set. I stamped with versamark and applied ultra Fine black embossing powder and heat set. I then used a clear glitter pen to enhance the words, Journey, Truely, and Changed.

Secrets Tag by Corina Finley

Thank you for joining me Today!

This week I decided to create a Tag, played with a stencil and alter some awesome chipboard elements.

I created my layers from black and manila cardstock. I used a large Tag die to cut the black cardstock. The Tag base was stamped this a Distress Lined Background stamp with versamark, sprinkled with clear embossing powder and heat set.

For the Manila cardstock, I applied Distressed Oxide in Fired Brick using an Ink Blending tool.  I dried the piece, then flicked with water and used a piece of paper towel to blot up the excess.

I used a stencil next with a metallic grey paint. I applied the paint unevenly with a Ink blending tool - wanting some lighter areas. Set aside to dry fully. Then the stencil was reapplied and each brick was traced using a black fine tip marker.

To alter the Med Key Holes, I used thick black embossing powder, while still wet (hot), I sprinkled with black glass glitter.  The Bolts and Plaque were painted with Black Gesso. The Mini Wood Key was painted with silver paint and a little was added to the 4 Bolts.

Seam binding, black twine and a metal Secret Charm was added for a finishing touch!

Happy 150th Canada!

Hello & Happy July!

We just celebrated Canada's 150th Birthday on July 1st. I am truly proud to be Canadian and grateful to live here. As many of you already know, Southern Ridge Trading Company is a Canadian Company and to celebrate, she released some wood and chipboard die cuts.

I created a card for the occasion with the special release and enjoyed working with them. Even thou, the Mini Wood Maple Leaf and the Canada 150 Maple Leaf die cuts are beautiful in there raw form, I was wanting to add some colour and glitter. I coated the die cuts with multi media and used Distress Glitter in Fired Brick to cover. I allowed them to dry before tapping off the excess.

I layered cardstock and pattern paper to create a card base. I added sewing to the edges of two layers and seam binding to one side. I distressed a rectangle piece of cardboard,  added a bit of glitter and twine.

I backed the glittered Canada 150 Maple Leaf with grid pattern paper. I adhered it on top of the cardboard piece in the center of the card. I also added the sentiment and two Mini Wood Maple Leaf.

You & Me Layout

Hello & Welcome!

Thank you for joining me. I have created a 12x12 Scrapbook Layout of my boys using a variety of pattern paper, cardstock, die cuts, embossing powder, two wonderful Chipboard Die Cuts from Southern Ridge Trading Company!

The Time Piece Kit comes in 4 pieces that you assemble. I applied black Gesso to the base and the clock hands. I embossed the numbers, gears and the Demask Corner with Chunky embossing powder and once cooled dry brushed with grey and black paint to reduce the shine.

As you can see in the picture above of the Demask Cornerlightly dry brushing paint over embossing Powder gives the Die Cut a vintage aged appearance.

Junk Journal Pages

Hello Everyone!

As you can probably tell from my last few posts - I am addicted to Junk Journaling! I have had a love of creating hand bound books and mini Album but I never Junk Journaled! It is a whole new world that I am learning and my favourite embellishments (Southern Ridge chipboard) is working wonderfully! Just meant to be!

The best part is that because they are gorgeous just as they are 'raw', not much needs to enhance there detail or beauty. For my pages that you will see below, I used 3 colours of Treasure Gold that was gifted to me at the Creativation Mega Show in Phoenix this past January. Southern Ridges Booth was next door to the wonderful and talented owners of Paper Artzy out of England. Using my finger tip, I applied the wax gilt to the chipboard pieces. It goes on so smooth and tries incredibly fast! And that is it!

Here I used the vintage scissors from the Dressmaker Mix set. Perfect!

I love how this one turned out! I only applied glue to the base of the wing. This will allow me to use it as a tuck spot for other items.

Above, I used a small bird from the Swooping Birds set. Love it!

Dragonfly Journal

Hello

During the month of May, each Southern Ridge Design Team member will be using the New Release Zen Dragonfly in their creations. You will be able to see numerous techniques and ideas using the same lovely chipboard embellishment.

For my take, I decided to use it on the cover of a hand-bound Journal that I am making. I used a printout from a Digital Journal kit by  as my pattern paper. Then added the Victorian Circle Square Frame that was painted with Distress paint to the cover. I cut and stamped a 3 1/2 inch pattern paper square from the same kit using a Script stamp with Ranger Coffee Archival Ink. Layered it to a piece of Kraft cardstock, paper distressed the edges and adhered to the center of the frame.

For the Zen Dragonfly, I glued it down to a piece of inked book paper and fussy cut it out. I then added Rangers Glossy Accents into some of the open detailed sections and sprinkled with  tiny coloured sugar beads. Once dry, I tapped off the excess and adhered the Zen Dragonfly to the frame.
